What is the recommended Voxar 3D 6.x Workstation spec?

  • Operating System: Windows XP Pro 32/64bit  (with Service Pack 1 or later)
  • CPU: 2 x Intel Pentium 4 Xeon 3.6 GHz, 2 x AMD Opteron 2.2 GHz, or dual/quad core equivalent
  • RAM: 4 GB to run Voxar 3D CardiaMetrix (2 GB to run all other apps)
  • Hard drive: U320 SCSI 10,000 rpm or SATA-II 7,200 rpm hard drive, with at least 200 GB free space
  • Display: 1600x1200 display in True Color (24-bit or 32-bit)

What is the Voxar 3D Enterprise Server spec?

The Voxar 3D Enterprise server specification is updated in accordance with hardware manufacturers and component availability. Contact TMVS support to get the latest Enterprise Server specification.

Do I need a specific brand of display to run Voxar 3D?

No. The recommended specification is any 1600x1200 display in True Color (24-bit or 32-bit).

Do I need a specific GPU card to run Voxar 3D?

Voxar 3D was designed from the outset to give high performance using CPU-based rendering, so it supports any configuration with AGP 2x and beyond – no particular GPU card is required

Certain applications within Voxar 3D have been optimized to take advantage of commodity GPU cards, and this can provide a small increase in performance.
Contact TMVS support if you want to know if your GPU card is supported for the optimized views.

I have 4GB ram on my workstation, but Voxar 3D is running slowly with larger datasets

If you are using a 32 bit operating system, 2GB of memory is automatically used by the operating system, and cannot be used for any other applications. 2GB memory is the most that Voxar 3D can access with a 32 bit operating system.
Upgrading to a 64 bit OS will give applications access to much more of the system memory.

Note: If you have other applications that are sharing the 2GB available memory, this can be used up quickly.

Can I use my own storage solution with Voxar 3D Enterprise Server?

Voxar 3D Enterprise Server is optimized to perform at the highest level, ensuring that high performance is always delivered to the Voxar 3D Entperprise clients.

To obtain the level of performance required, the hardware specification has to be precise, and the equipment we have validated has been extensively tested in an intensive environment. The disk configuration needs to be local to the server to deliver at it’s highest performance.

Any deviation from our recommended specification can have a significant impact on user experience and system performance.

What is the recommended spec for a Voxar 3D license server?

  • Operating System: Microsoft Windows XP Professional (with Service Pack 2 or later), or Windows 2000 Professional (with Service Pack 4 or later)
  • CPU: Intel Pentium III 933 MHz, Intel Pentium 4, or later
  • Memory: 512 MB RAM or greater
  • Network: Connection to the LAN on which the clients are located, and UDP port 5093 must be open between clients and license server

I have installed Voxar on a Vista Workstation, but cannot get it to run

Current versions of Voxar 3D do not support Windows Vista, and will not run on this operating system.

Contact TMVS support if you have further questions about operating system support.
