How do I configure Voxar 3D to work with a particular PACS application?

While Voxar 3D can be integrated into a number of different PACS applications the process for configuring the integrated software depends on the specific PACS and the version of Voxar 3D.

To learn more about how to configure Voxar 3D to work with your PACS, please log into the Advanced Visualization Learning and Support Center

How do I save captured images back to my PACS?

If Voxar 3D is being launched from the PACS viewer, captured images will typically be automatically saved back to PACS when you click Exit (Voxar 3D 5.1) or Finish and Archive (Voxar 3D 6.x).

If Voxar 3D is being launched separately from PACS, data can be sent via DICOM from the Inbox (Voxar 3D 5.1) or the Reading Manager (Voxar 3D 6.x) by selecting the Study or Series and clicking Push.

For information on configuring Voxar 3D to send to another device please see What needs to be configured in order to perform a DICOM push / send using Voxar 3D

Why can't Voxar 3D load a particular dataset?

There are a few common reasons why a dataset may not be loadable with Voxar 3D:

  • Modality is not CT, MR, PET
  • Data is compressed (importing from disk/media only)
  • PET Unit Type is not BQML or CNTS (Voxar 3D 5.1 only)
  • Images do not have same orientation
  • Missing or incorrect mandatory DICOM tags

If none of these reasons explain the problem, contact TMVS support

How do I set Voxar 3D's AE Title?

Voxar 3D has a default AE Title of “VOXAR3D”. To change this AE Title:

Voxar 3D 5.1:

  • If it is not open, bring up the Studies and DICOM window.
  • Click on the Configure tab.
  • Under DICOM Devices information will be displayed for This Workstation. Click on the Edit button in this section.
  • Specify the AE Title and click OK. The DICOM SCP will restart.

Voxar 3D 6.x Workstation:

  • If it is not open, bring up the Studies window.
  • Click on the Configure tab.
  • Under Device Administration, click on the SCP Details button.
  • Specify the AE Title and click OK. The DICOM SCP will restart.

Voxar 3D 6.x Enterprise:

  • The Enterprise AE Title can only be changed by re-running the Enterprise Server installer.
  • It is safe to re-run the installer to change settings without first performing an uninstall.

What DICOM operations does Voxar 3D support?

Voxar 3D supports the following DICOM operations:

  • Storage (SCU / SCP)
    - CT, MR, PET, SC, CR Modalities
  • Study Root Query / Retrieve (SCU only)
  • Print (SCU only)

For details please refer to the DICOM Conformance Statement

What needs to be configured in order to perform a DICOM Push or Query / Retrieve using Voxar 3D?

Voxar 3D 5.1:

  • If it is not open, bring up the Studies and DICOM window.
  • Click on the Configure tab.
  • Under DICOM Devices, click on the New button.
  • Specify the device details (see below).

Voxar 3D 6.x:

  • If it is not open, bring up the Studies window.
  • Click on the Configure tab.
  • Under Device Administration, click on the Add button.
  • Specify the device details (see below).

Device details:

  • Device Name: Enter user visible name for the remote device.
  • AE Title: Enter AE Title for the remote device.
  • IP Address: Enter IP Address or hostname for the remote device.
  • Port: Enter TCP/IP port for the remote device.
  • Services Provided: Check all that apply.
    - Storage:
    Storage SCP.
    - Query/Retrieve:
    Query / Retrieve SCP.
    - Print:
    Print SCP.

Note: It is not necessary to add device information for a device that will send to data to Voxar 3D.

What needs to be configured on another device in order to receive data from Voxar 3D?

To push to Voxar 3D, a scanner / archive will need to have Voxar 3D configured as a destination:

  • The AE Title of Voxar 3D (default VOXAR3D)
    -
On Fuji systems, this is listed as the Device Name
    - On some GE systems, this must match the Hostname of the Server
  • The IP Address of the Voxar Enterprise Server
    -
Most Windows-based systems can use the hostname/computer name instead
    - Some UNIX-based systems use the hostname instead of the IP Address and require that the remote device have an entry in the Hosts file
  • The Voxar 3D DICOM port specified above (default 104)

Some systems additionally require:

  • Services supported
    - Verification  SCU/SCP
    - CT Image Storage  SCU/SCP
  • - MR Image Storage SCU/SCP
    - SC Image Storage SCU/SCP
    - PT Image Storage SCU/SCP
If Voxar 3D will be querying this device:
    - Study Root Query / Retrieve SCU
(could also be Study Root Find / Move SCU)

  • Transfer syntaxes supported
    Implicit VR Little Endian (IVRLE)
  • DICOM selected as the protocol if there is an option.
