User Experience (UX) Interaction Designer (16 December 2011)
We are currently looking for someone that relishes the challenge of understanding complex problems and then creating designs that offer elegant solutions. This is an exciting opportunity for a Principal UX designer to create and direct world class designs and deliverables for TMVS projects. We’re looking for you to provide the interaction design expertise to enable the development teams to build global products with aesthetic appeal and high usability. You will be involved in understanding the end user needs through various methods of enquiry, specifying end user requirements, generating UX designs and be responsible for evolving and managing the visual aspects of the software product (potentially in conjunction with external visual design agencies) . You should be able to work autonomously but will be expected to liaise closely with cross functional teams. You will be a key advocator of good UX design practices, a creative thinker, able to stay abreast of the latest UX design methodologies and be able to apply them.
Your primary responsibilities will include:
- Involvement in product development from start to finish
- Conducting end user research in the form of interviews and observations
- On a daily basis working closely with product managers, clinical analysts and engineering team members
- Being capable of generating appropriate materials to communicate designs to all stakeholders i.e. documents illustrating task flows/ work flows, wireframes, lo and hi fidelity prototypes etc.
- Validating designs with internal stakeholders and when necessary with external clinical collaborators
- Keeping up to date with the latest UX design methodologies, evaluate them and apply them when and where appropriate.
- Ability to travel to carry out end user research and design validation
To be successful candidates should have:
Required:
- Significant experience of Interaction design in a consultancy or products company
- Evidence of delivering major products (demonstrated through a portfolio of work)
- Prior/current experience of working on desktop applications and web based products
- Extensive experience of using UX design creation tools such as wire-framing applications, prototyping tools (e.g. Axure, Balsamiq, Adobe suite of products) etc.
- Excellent communication skills (written, spoken and visual)
- Evidence that you have followed a formal project management process
Desired:
- Prior experience of working on scientific or highly technical projects
- Experience of medical imaging or similar imaging technologies
- Experience of Agile project processes
- Experience of usability standards and ISO frameworks
You will have an excellent academic record in a relevant field, such as art/ graphic design/ interaction design or have gained extensive UX design experience in industry.

Job description: User Experience (UX) Interaction Designer
Software Verification Engineer (1 December 2011)
We are currently looking for a Software Verification Engineer to join our team based in Edinburgh. This is an excellent opportunity for exposure to leading edge technology within the medical imaging industry.
Combining elements of both testing and programming you will be working in a team helping to develop, test and maintain new and existing applications within the medical imaging domain. In particular, your role will focus in the following tasks: Create automated test suites for designated software features, perform system testing; execute tests, check results & resolve problems.
Depending on the scale of the piece of work, you will also work in collaboration with the Senior Software Engineer to design and develop testable program code for new applications.
You should also contribute to the improvement of procedures and working practices. You would be expected to work with some autonomy but also to have excellent team player skills as you will have to work proactively within the development teams to ensure products are matching the expected quality levels and customer expectations.
To be successful, candidates should have a good academic record, including an Honours degree qualification in Computing or a related discipline such as Maths or Physics, or suitable relevant experience.
Experience of relevant programming languages, such as C++, C# and/or Java plus experience in relevant automated software testing techniques are also essential for this position.
A Background within medical imaging or other Scientific environment would also be advantageous.
